Retire Young Retire Rich by Robert Kiyosaki

Retire Young Retire Rich by Robert Kiyosaki is a must read for any business owner or anyone desiring a business whether full or part time. We all have a “giant” inside us and this book is about bringing it out. Chapters 1 and 2 prepare you to do many simple things that are important in order to retire young and retire rich. Things like self-doubt and your laziness define and limit who you are. They must be “taken on” and overcome or they will keep you small. This is not a “how to” book. It is all about your “why”. Why do I want to become rich?

Chapter 3 deals with real estate, paper assets and businesses all three of which are assets that make people rich and allow them to retire young. In his chapter of Retire Young Retire Rich Robert gets into the importance of cash flow and leverage. He says that this is what the whole book is really about.

Chapter 4 deals with many kinds of leverage besides money. A big one is your mind and Chapter 5 is all about that. What about risk you say. If one thinks a business is risky, then chapter 6 will clear that up. It is a learning process per Kiyosaki and no riskier than job security.

In Chapter 7 Robert Kiyosaki refers to his book Rich Dad Poor Dad when he states: “Rich dad often called earned income, the income you receive from a paycheck, “50 percent money” The reason he called it 50 percent money was because no matter how much money you earned, the government always took at least 50 percent of it or more in one way or another.” He then goes on to explain to explain about improving that with 20 percent and even 0 percent money.

Creating a plan and seeing your future are all part of the concept of becoming less employable rather than more employable. That pretty much sums up chapters 8-10.

Throughout his book Retire Young Retire Rich, Robert Kiyosaki continues the theme of leverage. Chapter 11 is about the leverage of integrity, match your words with your actions. Chapter 12 is about the leverage you can see in stories like The Tortoise and The Hare, and the Ugly Duckling.

Ask yourself the question? Are you greedy or are you generous? In chapter 13 Kiyosaki recommends adding a Network Marketing or MLM business to one’s portfolio. He says income from this type of business is more secure than mutual funds found in your retirement fund. Robert explains how networks harness the power of generosity.

In Chapter 14 of Retire Young Retire Rich, Robert Kiyosaki talks about leveraging good habits. These include but are not limited to hiring a bookkeeper, creating a winning team, expansion, keep growing up, be willing to fail, and listing to yourself.

Chapters 15-17 are actually a very in depth. They point to the details of carrying out many of the things discussed earlier in the book.

The book is 335 pages and very practical and “hands on.” Kiyosaki tells you what he did and what you can do. I recommend this book very highly.
